March of the Emperors
Thus far in my blogging career I’ve carefully avoided simply reposting videos and other internet curios upon which I’ve stumbled. Figure I’d leave that to the other 70 million bloggers out there.
But once in a while, it’s hard to resist - as was the case with this absolutely hilarious commercial from France’s Canal+. If you’ve seen March of the Penguins, you’ll adore this spoof of its French title, La Marche de l’empereur.
In France The March of the Penguins movie has been presented with the title “The March of the Emperor”. This is an amusing Tv spot to promote Canal +. Movies are made to be seen

Remember when those festivals of commercials from around the world were all the rage? Whatever happened to those? I seem to recall going to rep cinemas and paying actual money to see the best of the world… seems unlikely these days, somehow.
Anyhow, this one ranks right up there with my two other favourite foreign-language YouTube clips:

We Are Sinking (Berlitz’ hilarious “German Coast Guard” ad)

Introducing the Book (Norway’s NRK, subtitled in Danish and English)
(Video has since been removed by NRK. Update on this story here)
Any other favourites I should know about?

The Bloor still puts on those commercial fest things occasionally. I don’t see the point personally. It’s a nice cinema, but who wants to watch ads for 90 minutes?
You: Any other favourites I should know about?
Commercials or Foreign language? ’cause I don’t know if you stopped by the Equilism Film Festival but I entered a really good latin version of Law & Order (not too good acting wise as it was a simple Highschool Amateur production but v. funny)

Oh and the counting cows… That’ll have to wait until spring. I had a d’oh moment the other day as I realised the cows are inside until spring. Instead, I shall count House for sale and sold signs (plus probably some other things), I saw three just yesterday so should be good result.
Kevin: You’re right - for some reason, watching ads for 90 minutes doesn’t have much appeal any more. I used to adore doing just that when I was a kid, but today it sounds like a waste. Perhaps it’s the omnipresence of ads today, those 90s TV specials doing what the movies used to do, or the internet spreading anything that’s truly funny worldwide.
Tse: Link?
(And anything you can count would be great!)

Oh, btw, it’s not ‘my’ video as in I made it. For the Film Festival everyone just entered youtube or googlevideo vids they liked a lot.
And btw2, it’s crappy quality but I like it
